Last weekend my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew made the journey from Chicago to Springfield to visit Grant and I see Gavin for the first time! The first attempt, made a few weeks ago, resulted in them turning around due to some car sickness on Jude’s part (he’s the handsome little guy in the picture).  It was wonderful to see them, though we made no spectacular plans.  We just hung out at our house, playgrounds, restaurants and their hotel.  Jude had no interest in checking out his new cousin until he gave him two sweet kisses on the back of his head seconds before they left to go home! However, Josh and Jillian got a little baby crazy and are dying to have another, paint their apartment visit us again and hold baby Gavin! I’m sure Jude will enjoy hanging out with his cousin when Gavin can actually play with him.  Also, our faithful readers (do we have those yet?), check out Jillian’s blog about life as a mom in Chicago! I have to credit them with several of the things we love so far about raising Gavin: using primarily cloth diapers, breastfeeding, wearing him while we’re out and about instead of having to carry the carrier everywhere, etc.  All in all it was great to see a part of our family!
